Each layer is a single timestamp, but some operations provided to follow changes in pixels.
An “Event” is represented as a layer, where ‘on’ pixels (cells) are “in” the event and others are not.
Derived from snapshots, no redundancy removed. Research implementation only.
The real problem with all the snapshot-based approaches is not so much the space taken up by redundant data, but the fact that no tools are available to maintain consistency between the layers where they are meant to be the same.
