GIS provides extensive support for geographic and statistical analysis of social and spatial phenomena. But beyond the ability to build and analyze complex systems, we need better tools for helping us understand and predict these systems.
Object-orientation provides an improved foundation upon which to build our analysis and synthesis tools with greater ease and sophistication.
