Notes:
“Object-orientation” means different things to different people. This course is designed to clarify understanding and discuss misconceptions related to this leading technology, which is not as new as many people think.
This material is intended for both technical and managerial professionals who wish to stay abreast of this emerging technology. Participants should already have a basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) principles and applications. No prior programming experience is necessary.
Many pages of this presentation were updated on 1st April 1998, these pages are marked “4/98”.Philip Sargent.
Note: Certain terms used throughout this course, such as method, technique, operation, and methodology, are consistent with usage in standard literature of the object-oriented software domain. This is distinct from, and should not be confused with, the usage for these terms in the field of scientific research.
