OO GIS at Ispra
Project Vision: To establish at Ispra a permanent centre of expertise
in object-oriented GIS technologies based around an in-house developed
and maintained OO-GIS research application based on a commercial OO-GIS
product. |
Requirements Specification
Baseline
The baseline specification is the project mission statement (project vision),
see header above.
More Details
The intention is not simply to do a piece of research to show that various
segmentation and classification tasks can make good use of OO GIS technology.
The intention is to demonstrate a production-level capability. This
means that the integration of several types of software (in-house
C++, server-based GIS) and a complete (if skeletal) flowline (workflow)
is as important as the technical capability demonstrated. The simple fact
that the flowline is built using a commercially-available GIS is also important
in itself.
One of the requirements is to discover how much work is involved in
creating such a production level capability.
