Change control currently does not use a version control system but is
implemented manually by Philip Sargent. All controlled documents are published
on the AIS Unit internal website (as recommended for modern software development
practice) where standard Unix backup procedures provide recovery (and historic
authentication if required - at some effort). An improved system will be
implemented if necessary.
Old versions of documents can be retrieved by ftp (assuming you have
read-access) using
machine: unit.ais.sai.jrc.it
path: /internet-services/web/unit.ais.sai.jrc.it/people/philip/local/moolu
Do not attempt to put files on to the web using ftp, use the publish command in Netscape Composer.
When replacing a change-controlled document, you need to find out what number it is so that you can re-publish it with a changed filename. This number (at the bottom of the document, if greater than zero) must be updated when you republish a new document and the current change control version list must be updated.
